Install Chowdown like a native app
Chowdown is a Progressive Web App. No app store needed — install it directly from your browser in seconds.
iPhone & iPad
Safari browser required
Open in Safari
Go to app.chowdown.me in Safari. It must be Safari — Chrome on iOS won't show the option.
Tap the Share button
Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the screen (the square with an arrow pointing up).
Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
Scroll through the share menu until you see Add to Home Screen . Tap it.
Tap "Add"
Confirm by tapping Add in the top-right corner. Done! Chowdown now lives on your home screen like a real app. 🎉
Android
Chrome browser
Open in Chrome
Go to app.chowdown.me in Chrome.
Look for the install prompt
Chrome may show an Install App banner at the bottom. If not, tap the ⋮ Menu (three dots) in the top-right corner.
Tap "Install App" or "Add to Home Screen"
Find "Install App" or "Add to Home Screen" in the menu and tap it.
Confirm the install
Tap Install in the dialog. Chowdown will appear on your home screen and app drawer. 🎉
Desktop
Chrome, Edge, or Brave
Open in a supported browser
Go to app.chowdown.me in Chrome, Edge, or Brave.
Look for the install icon
In the address bar, you should see a small Install icon or a download icon. Click it.
Click "Install"
A dialog will pop up asking to install Chowdown. Click Install. The app will open in its own window, just like a native app. 🎉
